So my nephew drove back to Gillespie today to get the serial number off the engine. Here are the results of that visit. I forgive the difficulty as the corner of the storage room is tight and dark. Not sure if he had a flashlight with him.... John
Today I drove down to Gillespie to investigate the serial number. I have never done this before, and there were many numbers on this engine. I finally found what would have been the engine serial number on the block. It was not very legible but the number was: 346400115, or 346409115 or 346409775 or 346400775. The 00 may have been 09 and the 11 may have been 77... Hope this helps. To the best of my ability, the first number 346400115 would be the most accurate. I hope the guys you talk to can find the true origin of the engine and match it to NC15692. Jay
