It took me a while to understand what a Lynx system is. I assume you are talking of the Lynx Micro System, a communication set for open cockpit aircraft? http://www.airplanegear.com/lynx.htm The static you are hearing is coming most likely from the ignition wiring. I Take it from this comment here "My radio was crystal clear, until the mag work, now I cant even hear our AWOS." Remember folks, it is around 30000 Volts that makes a spark jump ! Even though the ignition system is shielded, I experienced static from at least one ignition wire even with a new harness. They are not perfect! Sometimes new spark plugs help a lot when the old ones have corroded or burned contact points to the harness. Sometimes it is reported that the P-lead transferres the static to your ignition switch and you need to shield the wires. With a handhels radio you can actually go after the source of the static much easier. Just walk around the aircraft with the squelch fully up, so the radio is in reception mode. Have the engine idle and mind the danger of the prop! That way you can determine which side is affected and when you run the engine on one magneto at a time , you can narrow it down to two spark plugs (wires) I would talk to the mechanic and ask hime what was done to the magnetos that could in effect generate so much static noise. Some more information on the subject is found here: http://www.sacskyranch.com/eng67.htm Good luck, Hartmut Http://www.ercoupe.info To: [email protected] From: [email protected] Date: Tue, 23 Jun 2009 20:01:27 -0700 Subject: [ercoupe-tech] static Ok, I have switched to the Lynx system, wiht the correct radio interface and the headsets are rechargable. THere is NO electrical connection in the circuit. Radio is an Icom A6, wiht battery. So, why am I now having worse static than before. When I do a radio check, all say I am loud and clear. All I hear is constant static as if the squelch were open all the time. My radio was crystal clear, until the mag work, now I cant even hear our AWOS. Any help would be appreciated. Oh, I put a very heavy ground from engine to frame, and no difference. Gary _________________________________________________________________ Lauren found her dream laptop.
