Simply said, no. You can't upgrade the single fork to a different style. There are no approved parts available to do that. ERCO developed a single fork gear though exactly as you imagined. I bought one from Skyport years ago and Lee back then told me that this was his last one. I still had to look for a new nose wheel though, since the older 5.00X4 wheel can not be used. So it is either the Univair upgrade that costs around $2000 (SK-17A ERCOUPE NOSE GEAR KIT $2,148.01) or just keeping the single bearing gear in good shape. Even though I upgraded the nose gear, I question myself the advantages of it. Sure, I don't have to buy the overpriced 5.00X4 tire anymore, but the new tire is bigger and the gear slightly taller, raising the nose by one inch aprox. and lowering the tail by at least two. That leads to more problems to fix. My advise now is to keep the single nose wheel, keep the plane rigged right, so the nose tire lasts long and have the bearing replaced every few years. Can you tell me what parts are needed to do this? Can my current fork be used? Is it just press my old axel out and press in a longer one and then new bearings and wheel halves or what? I talked with skyport but they are still learning and I haven't had much luck with Univar when asking for help. I know the double fork is the best design but I'm hoping that I can save some money by using my current fork and making it better. Please let me know what it takes.
