Folks,

Last week I laborously drained my tanks and then refilled them, one gallon at a
time, checking my fuel gauge and also testing the levels with a pipette.

I was surprised to learn that I could only get 17 gallons in my 18 gallon
aluminum wing tanks. Has anyone else tried this? Is there an issue of
"unusable fuel" that is undrainable, also that would have remained in the tanks?

My own suspicion is that the slight denting and warping of 63 years use may
have reduced the tank capacity a bit. It would only take a reduction of 1/2
gallon per tank to cause this.

Any other ideas?
