To all the good guys and gals ..............

I want to throw  this out for comments:: I am considering changing my airworthiness cert. to experimental.  The local FSDO (FAA) has said they will not consider any "field approvals" on flight systems, fuel systes, or interior seating even when I have copies of previously approved 337's.

They're not happy until you're not happy ;<)

These changes I refer to are using the split tail on my CD,

The CD has (or should have) the full 13º up elevator movement of the 415-C (unless you have or are considering the 1320 lb. gross STC). With 13º up elevator. it should flare just fine without installing the rather expensive split elevator.

This is NOT an improvement to the original fuel system. It increases the likelihood of in-flight fuel flow problems and/or vapor lock. I strongly recommend reconsideration of this modification.

, and installing Forney seats using parts from the Ercoupe parts list.

I don't think these are available any longer new, although they show up used from time to time. As I recall, they are heavier than the original arrangement...always something to keep in mind.

The local EAA members I talked to say that it would be no problem to make the change,  but impossible to later change it back.

Be sure to keep us informed as to your personal experience doing this...I did not believe it possible although it would have definite advantages.

My insurance Co. says no problem.

Great

I don't plan to make any other changes if I go this way other than installing a 3-bladed composite ground adjustable prop.

Can't wait to get a report from you as to the performance difference! Try to confirm takeoff, climb, cruise speed, top speed, service ceiling and absolute ceiling performance figures and cruise fuel consumption before the change and then afterward at the various pitch options.

What about it guy's.  Comments pro and con  I appreciate hearing from you!!!!!!!
