> Stall break at 70 mph indicated.
Dave, Two possibilities: 1. The pitot tube may need some adjustment. 2. The ASI is giving faulty indications at that airspeed. We've found that a lot of ASIs, especially old ones, are incorrect, usually to the high side. Here's some info on checking and adjusting your airspeed indicator: http://edburkhead.com/Ercoupe/airspeed_indicator_errors.htm I'd expect that you'd get your little stall break closer to 58-60 (with the 9° elevator up travel) as I seem to remember your plane is a D and you may have been approaching 1400 lb. gross weight. Though the ASI installation is designed for optimum accuracy at 100 mph, I don't remember the published normal error at low speeds being much more than 3-4 mph. I can't remember, right now, which document I read this in. Ed Ed Burkhead http://edburkhead.com/Ercoupe/index.htm ed -at- edbur???khead.XXX change -at- to @, remove ??? and change XXX to com
