I do not know, Richard: I was not flying when they came up with that,
However, I have rigged several Coupe's and more than once, all I had to do was
tighten the upper cable to get the rig in specs.

I understand your thinking (I thought of that too) but why do they tell us
not to break the seal on the "up cable turnbuckel"? Or why did they seal
that one in the forst place?

Hey Richard: I would first break the seal on the up turn buckle and adjust
the tension to the required amount. You may find with 180 to 190 lbs set
that your elevator is now in tolerance.

I (and my A&P) are in the process of checking my rigging of the elevator
on my plane. I have found two things that are not correct. 1) the tension
of the control cables were only 105-110 lbs (not the 160 to 190 lbs
required) and 2) the maximum up travel of my elevator from the 3-1/4" hole
lacks
(short) 1/2-5/8" of travel needed to hit the mark (travels only 2-7/8"
upward) and therefore is not in the +- 1/8" tolerance. the down travel is
right
on the 2-7/8 mark (within the +- 1/2" tolerance).

What is the process of correcting this?

Do I adjust the Elevator Push Rod length (from the control mast) and then
adjust the "elevator down cable turnbuckel" for the proper tension (as the
"up turnbuckel" is sealed for adjustment) or ???

Any one with this experience I would like to hear from.
