I have talked to several mechanics who have certified scales and they
each say that the actual weight obtained is generally around 100 lbs.
higher than the paperwork weights of those airplanes.

Richard,
Our N99325 sports an empty weight of 839. It is really spartan with
no interior panels, just wood floor and seats. No gyros, no
transponder. Just a handheld radio, Garmin 495/airgizmo, pedals, and
fabric wings. We did the 1320 STC to get more legal usable for
checkrides and flight instruction.
We haven't actually weighted the plane. Just using numbers from
recent 337s and logbook entries...

Thanks for all who are sharing their plane's "Empty Weight". I was
thinking mine was heavy but it looks like it is very typical. Jim
had shared a W & B form with me and it showed, for an example, an
ercoupe with a empty weight of only 804 lbs. Is this weight really
possible? I'm sure it is a fabric wing with little instrumentation
but still only 804 lbs. Maybe we ought to have a contest for the
lightest ercoupe (The Biggest Loser). I've never watched that show.
Any comments on the lightest?
