I believe that hand brake is from a cherokee and they work great as a parking
brake. Probably just needs a little maint and the good thing is the parts are
easily available and most A&Ps are familiar with them.

IMHO

Subject: [ercoupe-tech] Foot Brake with ERCO rudder pedals?

Besides my wonky cowling, there's only one other thing I don't like about my
coupe. The hand brake. Someone installed a Piper hand brake (quite a bit of
engineering on the 337) that works OK for braking but makes a lousy parking
brake. It pops off and bleeds down at the worst possible times and I've caught
the airplane rolling a couple times. "Just hold the brake", right? Well, I try
to whenever I run up, but sometimes I need a third hand to do everything at
once. A foot brake would be sooooo much nicer-- one foot on the brake and two
free hands. I notice that most Erco rudder coupes seem to have the foot brake
removed, either because it interferes with the rudder controls or because it is
in a bad location to get one's foot off the rudder and under to the brake. Does
anyone still have a foot brake with rudder pedals, or has anyone installed a
different single-brake system that works well with Erco rudder pedals installed?

Thanks,
Dave
