All, Following a lengthy conversation with an authoritative source today it is my understanding that the FAA will proceed no further with subject ACS pending release of a Final Report by the NTSB on the Sebring crash. That would seem to be the best possible development anyone could expect at this point in time.
Many times issues like this are raised and proceed forward without comment. This was not the case here, as more than a few comments were timely submitted. At some point each person who did so may be contacted by telephone by Mr. Caldwell or another FAA representative, and I believe their search for the truth will be genuine. There is every reason to presume that all parties now see common benefit from careful and thorough evaluation and determination of primary and contributing causes of this catastrophic airframe failure.
