I am planning to get my 'Coupe stripped and repainted this winter (the man who sold it to me apparently didn't prime it, and areas of paint are coming off, plus corrosion starting around a lot of screw- holes and where sheets of skin join). It is all-metal.
I found an aircraft paint shop at a nearby field asking a reasonable price, seen several examples of their work, and checked on reputation. They will do a complete strip, etch, prime & paint in 3 weeks. (That is a big incentive to me; a different shop wanted to keep the plane for 3-4 months, and I don't want to stop flying that long!) They will have the control surfaces removed & reinstalled by an AI they work with, and he will sign off on that. One of the 2 systems they use is by duPont, a reputable manufacturer; I have forgotten the other brand's name. I have not yet asked about length of warranty, but will. What other Qs should I be asking? Thanks - Linda N3437H (Sky Sprite) L.A.
