I know a friend in Alaska who flies at gross weight of 1500 GW in a D model ercoupe for many years now all year long without incident the coupe has a 90Hp Cont.operates out of a 3500 paved field . as I understand in Alaska they are permitted to operate at a 10% over gross there but not in the lower 48. Why??
