Linda,

For most Coupes, this is easy. Most Coupes (I think) have a cable
housing the entire distance from the tail to the instrument panel. (How
else can it do pull and PUSH?)

If this is so, you just unclip the old cable from the end connections
and pull it out.

Wait for the (un)official word from the experts here on the forum, but
in the meantime, let me reassure you. The new cable core simply gets
shoved into the cable housing from one end, lubricating it as it goes in
by pushing it through a rag soaked in the proper lubricant. Then the
cable core gets clamped to the handle in front and the trim tab clamp in
back. The extra gets cut off. The work gets logged (I guess) and you're
done.

I'd expect an elapsed time from beginning to end of an hour or less.

Each time I needed my cable replaced (a couple of times), the mechanic
had the necessary cable core in stock.

This should be a cheap (in aircraft terms) and fast repair.

Now, if you have a bad cable housing, then the labor will be magnified
considerably. (I wouldn't expect this.)
