Hi all,
If 100 of the approximately 1800 active Ercoupes (excluding Forneys,
Alons and M10s) have rudder pedals, which would be 5%. I doubt 200
(11%) have them. The raw emotion associated with the option never
ceases to amaze me, I have two projects without pedals and another
that will have them.
The effect of separate rudder control decreases with forward speed.
There is NONE at touchdown at minimum speed when landing. I like to
trim the ship to cruise "hands off the yoke" (maintaining altitude at
the selected rpm/speed and mixture) and maintain the desired lateral
compass heading with tiny rudder inputs as appropriate.
A disproportional number of owners with rudder pedals are likely among
the subscribers to this list. The "silent majority" is, and will
remain, just that...silent. I suggest that the most "accurate
possible" survey "results" should compare the number of coupes reported
with pedals to the number of subscribers to this list when deriving a
likely percentage.
Just my opinion,
WRB

As of now the voices counted tell us that 25 % of the planes are
fitted with rudder pedals - more than I thought.
