Early alert:
The owning partnership of an Ercoupe in Iowa City desires to sell the Coupe. They bought it for their kids to fly but the kids are dispersed and too busy, now. They each have other planes (bigger, faster, etc.). It is, most likely, an E or G model with 1400 pounds gross weight, not eligible to be flown by SP or PPouSPp, built in 1947. One of the owners, Jay Honeck, [email protected] gave me a bit of info. He'll probably post an ad in a while. _____________________________ Yep, we still have our '48 'Coupe, but it's for sale now. Three of us bought it so that our kids would have something to fly, but the mission has changed. Two of the three kids who were supposed to fly it aren't in the area any more, and my kid is so busy with the university that he barely has time to fly. So, we reluctantly agreed to put it up for sale. (Do you have any recommendations on where to put a classified ad?) It's in cherry shape. We just put a new prop on it, too. (We sent it out to be re-pitched for climb, and *poof* -- it failed inspection. There was an unwelcome expense, but she really climbs nicely now!) We bought this 'Coupe with the metal wings off (one had been crunched while the poor seller was delivering it to a buyer -- by a fuel truck driver. Sound familiar?) and a second set of newly-covered fabric wings. One of my partners is my A&P mechanic, and he painted the new wings to match and installed them in just a few hours. It's been inspected for corrosion multiple times. We're all keenly aware of the wing spar problems that Ercoupes have had. It's a great little plane, and more fun to fly than anything out there -- but my wife and I already own the Pathfinder (Piper's best plane, ever, IMHO) and we have no real use for a second plane. Even a 1/3rd share. (Although I'd probably hang onto it until the market improves, if it weren't for my partners wanting to sell...) If you know of anyone looking for a great little 'Coupe with new wings, new prop, and an almost-new nose gear (previous owner replaced it), let me know! (It's painted the same colors and layout as the 2009 Hallmark Xmas Ornament -- which I *know* you own!) ________________________________________ Ed
