Even if it turns out that we prove that TSO instruments are not
required, there will still be FBOs, mechanics, inspectors (AI) and
avionics shops who will not install anything that's not TSOed. That may
be for insurance policy reasons or as a magical ward against lawsuits.
After all, how can some surviving spouse sue them for not providing the
best instruments if they did provide the best, TSO approved instrument?

Still, it would be nice if we could come up with actual documentation
that could be copied and handed out to include in the aircraft's
paperwork and show to those who don't adequately know the regulations
for old aircraft.
