Hey Gang: I am no expert, but I do know that if your A & P is comfortable
with the regulations, it is legal for you to provide the part (or
description of how to make it) for him/her to put in/on your airplane. (this
was
also described by Dr Ed.) The TCDS A-718 describes the following for equipment,
but does not list the equipment provided with the airplane.

Equipment A plus (+) or minus (-) sign preceding the weight of an
item indicates net weight change when that item is installed. Approval for
the installation of all items of equipment listed herein has been obtained
by the aircraft manufacturer except those items preceded by an asterisk
(*). This symbol denotes that approval has been obtained by someone other
than the aircraft manufacturer. An item marked with an asterisk may not have
been manufactured under an
FAA monitored or approved quality control system, and therefore conformity
must be determined if the item is not identified by a Form FAA-186 or
8130-3 Airworthiness Approval Tag, TSO, PMA or other evidence of FAA
production
 approval.

I have replaced the gyros, turn/bank, vacuum gauge and all plumbing with a
Tru Trak ADI, after removing the venturi's) on a 415-G and sent the 337 to
Oklahoma City so everything is properly recorded. The airplane gained over
10 pounds of useful load in the process and I believe it flew better
afterwards. I know it glided much better without those two venturi's hanging
on
the side, and it was a joy to fly with the Lorance 1000
Velcro ed to the panel in place of the gyro's. Unfortunately, I cannot
remember the N number, I sold the airplane to a man in Texas, and my computer
which had all the information bombed late last summer. So I do not have any
pictures, etc.
