In an aircraft (Antique Restoration)
You would use everything exactly as the original. Sometimes it takes years
of research to even locate the original part. No expense is sparred,
everything including non-fire retardant fabrics, instruments and every nut &
bolt
for plumbing of that era. The word for restoration means lots of money..
You know, like the Restered Boeing that went into the drink.
Consider when the coupe was built with state of the art auto parts of that
period and lots of stuff including the fabrics. Now just think about it
please??? Can you legally reupholster you coupe in the same TYPE fabric just
because it was done then? For safety sake let's be practical,
Where do you draw the line. We're not talking about a true restoration here
where in some cases may or may be permitted as museum restoration. What
we're really talking about is being safe and legal. So let's cut to the chase.
We can't keep saying
"That's how it was with no FAA orTSO's or 337's or regs then, so now we can
do this-that or whatever." You're looking for trouble. You would have to
agree that there will be those that will step too far over the line. All I can
say is be careful of your personal interpretation.
