Some people like having the brake pedal down there with the rudder pedals and 
some don't. Some turn the pedal upside down to help get it out of the way. On 
the Ercoupe I had at one time with pedals the brake pedal was cut off behind 
the floor board and I just used the hand brake. It worked fine for me that way.
