The AD explicitly states:

Applies to All 415 Series Aircraft Ercoupes Up to and Including Serial Number
3642 Which Incorporate Fuel Pumps With a Metal Filter Bowl, and Bearing AC P/N
1539076 on the Pump Mounting Flange.

I think the fuel pumps we currently can buy are different pumps and don't have
that metal filter bowl.

Ours have a screen. I think it is a different design.

The old design allowed chafing against the nose bowl, or the fuel lines were,
and that should be avoided .

With newer style pumps this does not happen and the AD is not applicable.

Subject: [ercoupe-tech] Fuel pump AD

Hey Mac: I should have mentioned in my previous email that one item to check
would be the completion of AD 47-20-3. I have found several Ercoupes that were
not in compliance. I suspect that it was complied with long ago, and then the
fuel pump was changed, and the AD was not complied with a second time. I think
a big part of the problem is/was that the AD specified a specific part number
of fuel pump. When a new or rebuilt fuel pump was purchased, the part number
was different, so the person installing the pump would not comply with the AD.
It makes sense to me to comply with the change even though you have a different
fuel pump part number. That AD required the installation of the fitting
containing the 1/16 hole, and rotation of the top of the pump 2 screw holes
which changed the location and routing of the fuel pump lines.
