Thanks much guys! The info I needed was in the Service Memorandum 23, which shows more clearly the functioning of the master switch. I hope the switch has some indication on how to properly hook it up. I sure can see where the addition of a solenoid would be wise. My Coupe which I bought "only" 500 miles from home, has been in a delivery mode since last year, still 300 miles away, the last drop from the sky was from a generator not charging and battery going too low to allow radio transmissions. Generator and regulator off and checked out, still no charging! Turns out the master switch apparently has an intermittent disconnection on the generator field to regulator side of the switch. New master switch is being delivered for installation. > I can see a need for some updates, that master looks like trouble with add on > of radios, transponders etc. Apparently the high current side that switches the starter wire was OK, the other side of the switch that connects the field on the generator to the field terminal on the regulator failed, I don't suppose that side of the switch is very robust. I could only guess that perhaps age might have contaminated the contact surfaces. There is not even a fuse in that circuit, I would suspect not much amperage ever goes thru there. Another possibility is that the starter switch portion of the master got hot from current draw and ruined the "field" portion of the switch. Has anyone else had this problem or care to speculate?
