I suggest that you might try "flash" your generator (monentarily) touch a 12
volt source to the field terminal of the generator, while not running. This
helps increase the residual magnetism  and correct polarity of the generator.
Us oldtime A&P are perhaps more familar with generatord whereas the younger
ones only know alternators. I hope this will solve your problem.

My new coupe has a strange problem. When you first start up, it will not show a
charge. By flicking the master off and back on several times, it will then
start charging and charge for the duration of the flight. The generator was
rebuilt last year, and was just removed and checked out again, no problems. The
regulator was checked out and found to be OK, but a new regulator was installed
just to be sure. The master switch was replaced with a new one as well, there
seemed to be some question of the generator side of the switch. I am baffled by
it, has anyone else had this same problem and found a solution?
