Hi All... I'm going to replace my universal joints in the steering colum. I understand that one end needs to be shortened. Since the new universal joints are not the same as the old ones (the new ones have a collar down inside and don't allow for the same measurements as the old ones), where do I find the new measurements, which would not affect the flight control rigging. I have all new hardware and the tapered reamer. Does anyone have experience with this operation and if so do you have the correct dimensions for the drilled holes. The technical drawing on the web shows hole placement for the new style 2.75" long universal joint, but when all of the measurements are done, it will increase the total length of the steering shaft from .150'-.300". Or do we throw the new style universal shaft in iaw the drawing and re-rig the airplane. I'm not in favour of that option.
All advice is welcomed Cheers BobP
