Replacing the entire assembly is very time consuming. In most cases it is good
enough to pull the wire and clean , lubricate and reinsert.

Most problems aare caused by corroded or kinked cable housings, especially in
the end where the wire is guided through the elevator.

More to that here:

So I suggest pull the wire, straighten and clean and put it back in. If luck
has it , all works fine, if not you'll need a new wire.

Subject: [ercoupe-tech] Trim Wire

The trim wire froze in place on my Coupe and is bending at the cockpit end as I
move the knob back and forth. I can get it to move in the cable by using a
pliers but the knob is ineffective, The bend in the wire looks to be permanent
and I suppose it should be replaced. Can I simply lubricate the conduit by,
say, spraying silicon through it and replace just the wire? Or should I replace
the entire assembly?
