I think even brazing will not work good here.

The aluminum we are working with is made from different alloys in layers. When 
you weld or braze it, it will loose strength.

On the other hand I am having a nose bowl laying around that had been soldered 
(maybe brazed) with aluminum. But the nose bowl is made from a different softer 
alloy as I understand.

However. Cracks are better repaired with doublers. because just a weld or braze 
will crack again.

I know I'm going to get blasted for asking this one,but here goes.......
Has anyone ever tried using Dura-Fix or similar products to repair their 
sheetmetal,say a cowling that has a crack or something of that nature?
>From what I can gather on the web,you're not really welding it's brazing the
