When you are using a Garmin or Lowrance GPS, I'd suggest to use the Compass
rose mode as a much better substitute for the directional Gyro.

While the Gyro and the Compass only show the heading of the Aircraft, the GPS
gives you a reading of your bearing , your true course the vessel is having in
the wind.

Do you know what make your altimeter is?

Subject: [ercoupe-tech] 2 Instruments Needed

My altitude indicator now reads about 200 feet too high when I set the
barometric pressure. Does anybody know if this is something that can be
adjusted for less than the cost of a new instrument? Or, does someone have a
used but more accurate instrument for sale? Also, my directional gyro is now
making alot of bearing noise when it spins up and is no longer accurate either.
Anybody know where I might find a used gyro with good bearings? Or, can I just
replace the DG with a vertical card compass? And if so, does anyone out there
have a good vertical card compass for sale?
