Bob, Like Prof. Ed, my Coupe also had the scat tube running from a similar screened nose bowl inlet to the cabin fresh air vent.
That's a high pressure area on the nose and will deliver all the cool air you're likely to want to the cabin. Some people might disconnect the scat tube in the winter if their flip/flop valve on the firewall leaks too much cold air into the cabin.
