I agree that it would be difficult for fuel to flow back to the wing tanks on 
the Ercoupes. But my M-10 will drain fuel from the nose tank to the wing tank. 
I have to close the fuel TRANSFER valve if I am not going to fly for a week or 
so. The fuel seeps past the pump check valves. Mooney sort of goofed up the 
better system that Ercoupe had. The pump outlet to the nose tank is too low on 
the tank- this puts fuel pressure on the pump valves when the pump is idle.
