You can disconnect the hoses going to and from the heater and instead bypass 
the heater altogether with a longer hose that you directly connect to the cabin 
air box. The hose would take the fresh air from the baffles over the left 
cylinders and direct it down to the now formerly heat box.

Since the pick up of the air is over the cylinders, the air should be cold 
still. 
This robs you cooling air from the cylinder 2 position, but the original setup 
does that anyway, just passing the air through the heat shroud.

However, in extreme heat conditions, I would close the hole above cylinder 2 
completely and have rather the cylinder cooled than my feet.

Depends on the oil temperatures you are reading.

Living in the deep south heat is an issue at least 8-9 months of the year. I 
read a posting, just can't find it, about someone who disconnected their heater 
and used the vent to move fresh air into the cabin. Your help will be 
appreciated.
