Although I believe you are correct, the parts manual does not show any such 
parts, or a hole in the nose bowl.  Mine (SN 977) has no indication of one.  
Was it an extra or was it on certain serial number coupes?  I am going to just 
do it anyway and play like it was there for the last 64 years.
