Jay,

I have a 415 with the O-200 and a 69-50 prop.  Climb is great.  I cruise at
2500rpm (max recommended is 2525rpm) and burn 5.2ghp down low, and as low as
4.2 up above 10k.  I see about 90kts or 104 mph.  With the alon, the 69-48 prop
will be very under pitched.  You will climb well but won't be able to take
advantage of the alon's lesser drag.  The alon's have no problems cruising at
115mph, but you will need a different prop to hit those speeds.  With your prop
you should expect to see about 100-105 mph @ 2525rpm.

Good luck
Dan

I am hopefully very close to receiving the final paperwork I need before
putting my 1965 Alon project back in the air. I am curious about what sort of
performance to expect from this plane. It has the O-200 with a McCauley 69-48
prop. If any of you are flying something similar I would enjoy hearing about
cruise speeds, climb rates, fuel burn, etc. Also, I have a set of wheel pants
that I have not installed yet. Would like to have opinions as to whether they
are beneficial when compared to the extra weight. Thanks! Jay
