All good ideas but I've thought of most of them, with no luck........
The towing companies around here won't haul an aircraft on their rollbacks
because of insurance concerns.
U-Haul doesn't have anything suitable except one of their big trucks...have you
priced the cost of rentals for them lately plus the fuel? Also, there's a
loading issue.......that deck is pretty high and the walkramp is very
narrow, nothing to role the mains on.
I can't find anyone with a trailer as big as mine.....my trailer is "BIG" and I
still have to load the plane with the nosewheel on the trailer rolled towards
the front and the maingear setting on the fenderwells........looks funny with
it's butt in the air but I've hauled many miles this way without one single
problem,it rides like a dream.
I think at this point I might just take one of my trailer hitches and
refabricate it so that the nosewheel will set on a dropped steel plate and just
tow the plane on its mains to the airport.
I know many planes are desined to do this but I don't know if the bearings in
the Ercoupe will tolerate such a long ride, even at very slow speed.
