Hi Prof. Ed,
Your G model has a Forney trim unit...not the "Airliner quadrant" (with
throttle and trim handles) that was introduced with with the 415-D
model. It's quite possible that your "parking brake" is also
non-standard. In any event, Dan has the "factory" arrangement
installed in over 4,000 415-C models; and it was designed for such use
(when properly adjusted). It can be applied as you describe, too.
The panel-mounted hand brake was routinely used by Fred Weick to
shorten his landing roll. He would "pre-set" it a certain number of
clicks (almost certainly worked out by trial and error for his
particular installation as adjusted with coordinated brake master
cylinder action). He told a story of setting it too tight once when
landing on pavement at College Station (after leaving ERCO) one day
after buying new tires, and immediately flat-spotted them (to his
considerable surprise, dismay and disappointment).
Regards,
WRB

Dan.
That's not how my parking brake works.
After stopping my plane.
I press on the brake pedal while pulling on the parking brake.
Then it will hold the plane in place until I release the parking brake
Just like a cessna 150 or 172 , Etc.
