I highly recommend the iPod Touch, although it doesn't have AM/FM. The iPod Touch is exceedingly well-designed and reliable, long battery life, is easily recharged, and has a multitude of other uses via apps. An iPhone would also work great. Even the small 8GB models of either one would work well. 8GB models hold about 2000 songs, plus hundreds of photos, plus you can use them to read and send e-mail, plus light Internet usage.
