I had this problem a couple of years ago. I could NOT separate the oleo on
either landing gear. I wound up replacing both oleos. When I took a hacksaw
to the oleos and pressed them apart with my hydraulic press, I found that
they had frozen up due to rust. At some time the plane had been in high
water and the oleos had rusted up solid.

I hope you have luck getting yours apart.

quarter inches!
I decide to take things apart to see what is going on, drop the bottom bolt,
swing the strut back to pull it off - and it won't move! Now I understand
why the rubbers are compressed - the strut is froze solid in a compressed
state! Take the other side off, same thing.
