I can recall seeing, a couple of years ago, and Ercoupe up on aircraft jacks.  
The jacks were placed under the tie down fittings on the wing and the one on 
the tail.  (This should cause some immediate apoplexy among members.)  It was 
perched up there sitting as pretty as you please while the mechanic was 
installing bushings on the main landing gear.  I asked if those points wouldn't 
collapse or be overstressed and was met with the response, "If they are strong 
enough to hold the airplane down, they should be strong enough to hold the 
airplane up).  Comments?
