"If they are strong enough to hold the airplane down, they should be strong enough to hold the airplane up".
Sounds like trying to push a car with a chain to me. ________________________________ From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of [email protected] Sent: Tuesday, June 08, 2010 8:27 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [ercoupe-tech] Re: Jacking Options I can recall seeing, a couple of years ago, and Ercoupe up on aircraft jacks. The jacks were placed under the tie down fittings on the wing and the one on the tail. (This should cause some immediate apoplexy among members.) It was perched up there sitting as pretty as you please while the mechanic was installing bushings on the main landing gear. I asked if those points wouldn't collapse or be overstressed and was met with the response, "If they are strong enough to hold the airplane down, they should be strong enough to hold the airplane up). Comments?
