Fortunately, I wasn't in the market for an LSA and the guy I purchased from was
totally honest that it was a 1400# GW airplane. But I have an airplane with a
CD data plate, an AW Cretificate that doesn't specify which model (issued in
1962), a registration that says CD, and two 337's from different decades that
say the airplane was converted to a D. Also, previous registrations that say
D. All potentially confusing if someone wanted to mislead a rookie buyer.

The irony is that the only difference is paperwork! You could have an LSA CD
with an O-200 and a split elevator and as long as it was never upgraded to
1400#, it could be virtually identical to mine.

Wouldn't it be nice if you could just buy the 1320# Alpha STC and have it apply
to 1260# Ercoupes and 1400# Ercoupes?

Funny how the whole LSA thing has made people willing to be less than honest.
Anyway, I'll echo the comments that the only way to be sure is to do a
thourough audit of the FAA registration, AW certificate, and 337 file.
