Hi guys:

I've got a similar fuel problem, two actually, that may or may not be
related. 1) I'm venting fuel OUT of the left tank cap. Both wing caps &
gaskets are new, as well as the header tank cap/gasket/gauge. When I shut
down after flying, the fuel level in that tank is down an appropriate
amount. The tank does not appear to be overflowing, and both wing tanks
appear to have fairly equal amounts in them. 2) I'm getting a small fuel
leak (drip-drip-drip) under the panel, possibly at the header tank fittings
- either from the fuel pump, or overflow TO the left wing tank.

Two unrelated problems? The fuel venting has me puzzled.

Thanks for the help,

Rick Eason

I have had the same problem as Kim from the time I bought the plane in
January. The new restrictor fitting seemed to fix the problem for a few
hours until the problem returned. I've just had all the tanks drained and
the lines brown out--the mechanic said there was "schmutz" in the line which
could have caused the intermittent problem. Will fuel her up and fly her
after the 4th and report back. This has been a damn annoying problem and I
share Kim's frustration.

somehow clogged during painting or even by insects, this would cause the
problem. The air needs to be able to escape or the fuel will not come back
from the header tank into the wing tank like it is supposed to. It will
pressure up and cause the fuel to overflow from the header tank. So be sure
that both tank cap vents are free and clear. Jerry

kinked or blocked, someone else reported such a problem in just a too sharp
bend. Under no circumstances would you want to block the cap vent, even if
it appears to solve the problem. With known history, it may be possible a
bug or spider built a nest in the return line while it was apart perhaps?
