Most Garmin GPS units have a VERY ACCURATE voltmeter, AND you can set it to 
alert you at whatever preset low voltage you want (I use 12.2 on mine).  I 
installed one of those combo volt/amp unit gauges according to the STC for the 
60 amp alternator.  I just love it!
