I started flying in the 70's as a student pilot in a C-172 and then an Ercoupe and I got my private in a Beech Musketeer...now that was the airplane that introduced me to PIO...got my attention real quick..the problem was me not the Beech...airplanes have different flight charactertics as I have learned. The Beech landed differently than the Ercoupe. I got my private in the Beech then went back to the coupe flew C-150's, C175, Piper Tomohawk, 7FC Tri-Champ, Rans S12 (I built) back to an Ercoupe and now to a Rans S12-XL that I keep at home which is on a 875 foot airstrip. I have owned and flown the 415C, 415D, and the 415E coupes and from my exprience and without a doubt the Ercoupe is the best flying A/C I have ever flown and I have never ever experienced PIO in the coupe!!!! The strongest cross winds I have ever flown in were in the Ercoupe..It is unmatched.
