I appreciate the good information. I had wondered if the unusual aileron
movement wasn't a design feature, as are so many of the Ercoupe's functions.
In defense of my A&P, who is meticulous about using documentation and doing
things carefully, we had made the observation of the aileron movement last
weekend before starting the systematic re-rigging next week using our
Service Manual. I now see on page 26 of the Service Manual that we do need
to check and possibly adjust the "lateral control stops," but this is in
addition to allowing for the control yoke's turning of at least 150-degrees.

As a pilot, I have learned so much from this whole process of thorough
testing and minor restoration of my Ercoupe. I have found the manuals, and
especially the Ercoupe Bulletins and Memorandums, to be especially helpful.
It is my first plane at age 65 and the first type of small aircraft I flew
in at age 10. The more I learn about the Ercoupe's design, and the more I
learn about my own plane, the more confident I am about flying it. The
insights I have gotten from this blog have been invaluable. Thanks. Bill
