John, that is actually my original question I guess, just why DID they change 
from a spring to a tab?  It sure was not for cost control, the tab is a far 
more complex system than the spring, which had apparently served the coupes 
well for many aircraft with no complaints. Those of you who have flown both 
types, you comments are welcomed. I don't mind changing mine over to the more 
conventional trim tab, if I can uncover one shred of indication why I would 
want to (other than the airworthines issue).  I am not even certain that my 
plane has been converted to 85hp, since it has no trim tab, I am judging mostly 
by the remarked oil dipstick, and a new blank engine tag that came with the 
plane..
