All, here is what we are thinking for the relatively near term on Erlware:

Faxien -
New install and release structure. Pre installed releases that
faxien understands will have the same structure as you get in
/lib/erlang when you install erlang/OTP from erlang.org. Basically if
you want to use faxien to install releases right into your native OTP
install it will work after this modification. This means that there
will be one lib directory under your erlware install that contains
apps compiled for many different Erts versions. Basically this is a
move to get very standard and simple. This will also make us fully
compatible with the new rel tool.

After these changes faxien will be put into maintenance mode.
Community patches always appreciated.

Sinan -
Add simple build hooks for calling into outside build scripts at
different phases
Dist must create releases of the new structure
Know how to crawl the new lib structure selecting only dependencies
that are compatible with the erts version a given Sinan instance is
compiled for

After these changes Sinan will be put into maintenance mode.
Community patches always appreciated.

THE REPOS

This is where all our focus is going. After the simple changes above
are made the rest of our focus will be repos repos repos. This means
better support for digital signatures, more applications and releases,
better website that allows for enhanced searching and easy download of
packages with or without faxien.

With these changes we should provide our community with a much greater
level of support.
