Arc/Info 8.0.2 ECW Plugin?

Are there any plans to create an ECW plugin for Arc/Info 8.0.2.  I know the plugin for 8.1 is available in beta, but our company is not looking at upgrading in the next while, but we'd still like to be able to use ECWs in ArcMap.     Adam Inglis Remote Sensing Manager Spatial Mapping Ltd.
