In addition to the examples with 1.6, we also have full samples
that can be provided to you, if you wish to contact your local
regional office.
Ask for the "1.6 Geological Survey sample application CD-ROM"
(this is the same example as running on EarthEtc). That particular
sample uses a free GIS map server, and can be easily used as a basis
for integrating with other servers such as ArcIMS.
The example includes resizing windows, queries, turning layers on and
off, and various other features.
