Hi Eric,

The reason that you are getting only a red band in your output file is
because DEM data has only one band. Therefore you should use the greyscale
option to compress this data. Also, DEM data is not usually compressed to
ECW as the pixel values will be resampled to 0-255.

Has anyone tried to compress GLOBE DEM data? I've run the ECW compressor
(free version) on an individual tile, selecting the HDR file, and the
results are pretty poor.  When choosing the RGB option in the GUI, the
output shows only red, as if the other bands were ignored. I would like to
use compressed GLOBE tiles within ESRI's MapObjects.

Any help would be appreciated!
