Hi Robert,

The ECW files are georeferenced from the source file when compressed and are either stored in the ECW file itself or a corresponding ERS header file if using ER Mapper. The ArcView 3.2 ECW plugin sets the extents of the raster dataset from the georeference information of the ECW. If the ECW has no georeference information (RAW) then either the ECW Header Editor utility (download from www.ermapper.com) or ER Mapper must be used to add georeference information.

As ArcView 3.2 does not support transformation of data between different projection systems it is important that you set the projection of the view to match the projection of your ECW files to avoid errors and inaccurate results. Please refer to the ArcView help in setting the projection and map units of the view.

Regards,

Michael.

Subject: ECW georegistered files in ArcView

Hello,

I have some ECW files that have been georegistered and they work well in ArcGIS. However, I need to get the ECW georegisterd files to work in ArcView because the editing function in Arc Map is very unstable, at least with ECW files.

In ArcView 3.2, the ECW files appear but not as being georeferenced.

Can anyone suggest a way to get the ECW files into a form that carry the georeferenced information into ArcView.

Many thanks,

Bob
