Unfortunately, they've generally been launched on Deltas.  That means a
very small liquid second stage, which *probably* doesn't leave Earth orbit
(I don't remember the numbers for sure, though), and an even smaller solid
third stage. 

To be mistaken for a rock, it's really got to be at least a Centaur, and
preferably an S-IVB.
