Would you rather have very hot air flowing into the wing internals through
a crack/hole, or gas flowing outwards?  Once the hot air begins to move
inwards, it progresses to failure, assuming the flow is sufficient to
erode the passageway.  A positive internal pressure should prevent this
initial inward flow if the crack/hole isn't too large.
